Friends with Flair ~ Butterfly Wishes Garland

Oh wow, more butterflies...it is spring, after all! And do I ever have a fun project to share with you today!

It all started with this file by Pebbles in my Pocket from the Silhouette store and some patterned paper from Echo Park called Life is Good...I mean, really, how can you not have fun with paper called Life is Good?

This garland was a lot of fun to make...it did take some time...but not any special skills.

I cut lots and lots of butterflies (twenty in all) from the patterned papers, then cut some (ten) from some plain cardstock. I inked all the edges, then on the plain butterflies I stamped inspiring phrases and images from my Unity stamp collection.

Then I put two butterflies back to back and stitched them in a continuous strand, using my sewing machine. First two patterned paper butterflies, then one stamped butterfly, until I reached the end of my pile!

I have some favorites...but really, the whole thing makes me smile when I look at it!

I'm linking this project up over at the Moxie Fab World blog Spring Home Decor challenge, its going on right now through April 8th...there are prizes for participants and prizes for commenters! Hop on over and find some inspiration and join in on the fun!

Of course, I'm also linking up to the Friends with Flair post on Friday...sharing Unity goodness all around the Unity world!

Supplies:

  • cut file: Silhouette America
  • patterned paper: Echo Park - Life is Good
  • cardstock: Recollections
  • stamps: Unity Stamp Company
  • ink: Ranger Distress Ink - Walnut Stain
  • other: sewing machine and thread

Thank you for stopping by!

    1. I was a little worried about it...but I just grabbed onto the first butterfly that I stitched and pulled the line through...the machine kept stitching, even without any paper under the foot...then when I thought it had pulled far enough, I fed the next butterfly under the foot, and repeated the maneuver.
