Friends with Flair: Stitched Sunrays

How many kinds of creating do you enjoy? One of the things I like to do in addition to cardmaking is sewing, so sewing on paper was a natural combination of the two for me. You can see here, here and here that I've done this before, so when a call came up for a swap on the scrapzee board for sewing (real or faux) on cards...I jumped on board!

I trolled the web and Pinterest looking for ideas, and ultimately decided to use the sunburst style on this card. I cut the rays and background on my Silhouette, then layered them and took them to my sewing machine to stitch around the rays. I don't think it shows in the pictures, but I used a variegated thread to stitch with. I layered the stitched fronts onto a black card.

Dh thought they looked kind of neat just as they were, but I had a different look in mind. I cut a shape with a punch, and used my favorite circle sentiment set as the focal point...but could not decide which sentiment to use...

So I made three of them to send with the card base for the swap, and the recipient may use whichever one fits their occasion best!

Supplies:
  • cardstock: cream (Coredinations), black (unknown)
  • patterned paper: K&Company
  • stamps: Unity Stamp Co
  • punch: EK Success (bracket frame), McGill (circles)
  • ink: Tsuneiko
  • cut file: Silhouette America
  • thread: Maxilock
Thanks for stopping by!
