Hello, Frank!

I've been busy in the craft room again...with inspiration from Pinterest, of course!

This cute tag came about for a weekly challenge over on the Cardmaker Cardswaps forum, this week, it is to make a tag for the upcoming holidays.

After seeing the above linked version, I set out to make my own Frankenstein tag...

Its really as easy as it looks, so give it a try!

Supplies:

  • chipboard tag base
  • green cardstock to cover  tag
  • green distress ink
  • black marker
  • black buttons
  • brads (for bolts)
  • black burlap scrap
Here's a closer look at the neck brads...

And the button eyes and burlap 'hair'

Steps to make:
  • Cut chipboard tag. (I cut mine 5" tall by 3" wide.)
  • Cover tag with green cardstock
  • Distress cardstock with green ink
  • Glue on button eyes
  • Draw mouth. (I penciled mine in first to be sure of placement.)
  • Glue burlap 'hair' in place, trim to fit edge of tag, trim bangs.
  • Glue on neck bolt brads
  • That's it!
Thanks for looking!

All things Halloween

I wanted to gather some more of my Halloween cards for this year into one post...partly because I wanted to see what I had done in one place...partly to enter them in the Moxie Fab World Challenge to show off your creepy creations...

I'm not sure that too many of mine qualify for creepy...but they're all Halloween!

My 11 year old son and I joined a Halloween card exchange on my favorite message board here, and so with a little design help from mom he got to make eight cards to send out around the US and even one to Russia!

This is the card that he put together

And he even decorated the inside a bit too

We sure had fun putting all of these together! He wrote a quick note on the inside, signed his creation on the back, and mailed them off!

I borrowed his design, and with a few variations, made cards for my nieces and nephews...which is something that I have been meaning to do since my mom passed away a couple of years ago, because she was so great at sending the children cards for all the holidays...usually with a funny joke or cartoon included...

Here are some of the cards that I made

This is one that I posted before, because I made it during the online crop...but I think that it is my favorite Halloween card from this year...I think it is so cool with all those skulls!!!

Holiday Cards, Swapping Fun!

I really enjoy swapping...it is fun to make cards that you know will be appreciated by the recipient, someone to ooh and aah over your work...

I joined a swap for holiday cards over at the Cardmaker magazine message board...my favorite place to 'hang out' with friends online. Each person in the swap group is responsible for one holiday...I joined two groups, so I'm doing two holidays.

In one group I was given Valentines Day, here is my card...super simple and graphic...

I was surrounded by patterned papers and ribbons and lace...but this is what the card ended up looking like...sometimes, you can't predict where your creative muse will take you!

Do you see that awesome banner edge to the left of the sentiment? I knew that I would never be happy with the result I got using my scissors...so, I stuck the end of the rectangle into my square punch, and clipped off the triangle, and voila! A perfect banner edge...try it!

In the second group, I was given Halloween, and here is the result!

Can you believe that those two stamps are $1 stamps? I love dollar stamps! I should start a blog featuring dollar stamps!!! Hey, maybe I will!!!

I also adore the spiderweb embossed background...that's using a Fiskars plate in my cuttlebug...isn't it great? I bought the plates and the embossing tool to use with it...but did not like the result I got...I'm sure that practice would have improved my technique...but I wasn't patient enough for that...

I'm looking forward to seeing what the other participants created...I love getting happy mail!

Thank you for looking!
