Friends with Flair ~ Glittery Balloons

Just a quick, quick post today, since it is the Friday before the tax filing deadline and I'm crazy busy! 73 hours at work this week!!!

I put together this card a bit ago, and was reminded of how much I love these glittery balloons when I pulled it out to send to my nephew who turned two!

I wanted some sparkle, but not anything that could come off and get in his little eyes, so I went with glitter glue...it worked! The balloons have a real 3-d look and feel to them!

See?

Have fun hopping around to see all the beautiful and talented work that's being shared with Friends with Flair Friday!

Friends with Flair ~ Mod Birthday

Just how awesome are Fridays? Most of the time...pretty darn awesome! During the end of tax season...they could be just like any other day...except that it means its time to link up to Friends with Flair over at the Unity Stamp Company blog!

I'm on a roll this year with sending out birthday cards...actually on time! Well, mostly...;-)

So naturally, that means that I need to keep my stash of cards up so that I have one to grab and send! This card is a combination of a couple of the newer Stamp of the Weeks from Unity...I love the way their stamps are so versatile!

I used a book page from a thrift store book to stamp the dress onto...I think it is Korean...I love how it looks, and love to use it...but I'm always a little nervous too, since I have no idea what it says!

Have you ever picked up a foreign language book to use in your papercrafting?

Supplies:

  • cardstock: Wausau(white), scrap(black)
  • paper: book page
  • stamps: Unity Stamp Company
  • ink: Versafine
  • die cut: Spellbinders

Have a great weekend, and thank you for stopping by!

Friends with Flair ~ Butterfly Wishes Garland

Oh wow, more butterflies...it is spring, after all! And do I ever have a fun project to share with you today!

It all started with this file by Pebbles in my Pocket from the Silhouette store and some patterned paper from Echo Park called Life is Good...I mean, really, how can you not have fun with paper called Life is Good?

This garland was a lot of fun to make...it did take some time...but not any special skills.

I cut lots and lots of butterflies (twenty in all) from the patterned papers, then cut some (ten) from some plain cardstock. I inked all the edges, then on the plain butterflies I stamped inspiring phrases and images from my Unity stamp collection.

Then I put two butterflies back to back and stitched them in a continuous strand, using my sewing machine. First two patterned paper butterflies, then one stamped butterfly, until I reached the end of my pile!

I have some favorites...but really, the whole thing makes me smile when I look at it!

I'm linking this project up over at the Moxie Fab World blog Spring Home Decor challenge, its going on right now through April 8th...there are prizes for participants and prizes for commenters! Hop on over and find some inspiration and join in on the fun!

Of course, I'm also linking up to the Friends with Flair post on Friday...sharing Unity goodness all around the Unity world!

Supplies:

  • cut file: Silhouette America
  • patterned paper: Echo Park - Life is Good
  • cardstock: Recollections
  • stamps: Unity Stamp Company
  • ink: Ranger Distress Ink - Walnut Stain
  • other: sewing machine and thread

Friends with Flair ~ Butterfly Kisses

Wow, oh wow, do I have some beautiful cards to show you today!

I joined a swap over at the scrapzee board for butterfly theme cards, pretty simple, make five cards and send them in, get five different cards back.

I turned to my Silhouette Cameo and Unity stamps to come up with this piece of gorgeousness...even dh was impressed!

I used a cut file from the Silhouette store, modified a bit to suit the picture in my head, then the most adorable SOTW from Unity on the inside.

Of course, since its for a swap, then I made a few more...

Oh, and I just couldn't not use the darling butterflies flying out of the envelope stamp, so I sent some envelopes along to use with these cards!

Supplies:
  • stamp - Unity Butterfly Kisses
  • cardstock - Recollections
  • patterned cardstock - Cosmo Cricket Clementine
  • cut file - Samantha Walker for Silhouette America (modified)
  • ink - Ranger Distress Ink Walnut Stain
  • punch - Martha Stewart butterfly trio
  • gems - The Paper Studio
  • ribbon - stash
I chose the patterned cardstock based on the colors in the Unity Be Inspired Challege ~ it lasts for a whole month, you should join in!

Friends with Flair ~ Unity Inspiration Color Challenge

Oh wow, Unity has started a new monthly Inspiration Challenge!

The choice is yours, you may use the sketch or the colors to create a card, layout or mixed media project...and boy, are the entries gorgeous!

I'm linking to both that challenge and Friends with Flair this week...and hopping around to look at the other entries is leaving me in awe of the talent that people have!

I chose to use the colors as inspiration for this card ~ although some ideas are starting to form for the sketch...we'll see if I can make another project in time to enter for this month!

I love the red and turquoise, and the picture of the pinwheel really caught my fancy, plus the stripes on the chairs...so I sponged on some sky over a few cloud masks, then turned to my silhouette cameo to cut some pinwheels from patterned paper. I love how I can resize the file to any size I want. So fun!

I trimmed some scraps for 'sticks', then found the perfect sentiment to fit.

Don't the pinwheels make you happy too? I didn't like the look of the plain white as the reverse side of the pinwheel, so I mirrored the pinwheel in the software and cut from a second paper then just formed the pinwheel with the two papers wrong side together, easy peasy!

All in all a pretty, happy card that will hopefully brighten the recipient's day!

Supplies:
  • stamp - Unity Itty Bitty - This is a Happy Life
  • cardstock and patterned paper - scrap pile
  • brads - The Paper Studio
  • punch - EK Success
  • cut file - Silhouette America
  • ink - Ranger Distress Ink - Broken China

Thank you for stopping by!
